Project BG 2004 / 016-782.01.03.03.09 “The mystical paths of Rupite” – Grant Scheme: Promotion of Nature Protection Actions and Sustainable Development across the Border – Bulgaria – Greece
Overall objective
The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows:
- To encourage the development, management and promotion of ecological tourism (ecotourism), as a tool to sustainable development and protection of the natural resources in the Bulgarian – Greek cross-border area.
- To develop new green tourist infrastructure and diversify the tourist product and services, offered in the region.
- To better use and promote the existing resources for development of green tourism among civil and business structures.
- To set up environmental culture in the local residents and to transmit and interpret the values of natural, historical and cultural heritage to local visitors.
Purpose
The purposes of this contract are as follows:
- to ensure adequacy of support infrastructure and services, development of off-site infrastructure facilities that precondition ecotourism development and create alternative livelihood/entrepreneurial programs for host communities in the cross-border area;
- to develop high-quality ecotourism products, identify and develop sites for ecotourism activities and link Bulgarian and Greek communities as partners in sustainable cross-border development.
